Christina S. Walsh Breast Cancer Foundation

Our Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to provide financial assistance and comfort to breast cancer patients and their families. It is our hope that some of the hardships they are experiencing will be lessened.

About the Foundation

The Foundation was established in October 2004 to honor the memory and vision of Christina Walsh, loving wife and mother, who at age 32 lost her battle with breast cancer. Over the course of her two and a half-year illness, she recognized the affect the disease had on her family and friends, both emotionally and financially. Always looking to turn her own experiences into a positive force in the lives of others, Christina became determined to find a means of assisting and providing relief to other breast cancer patients and their families.

In July of 2004, while vacationing in Florida with her husband and daughter, Christina's health took a severe downturn, and she required an air ambulance to return home to her doctors. Insurance would not cover the $11,000 bill, yet within a week of her return relatives and friends raised enough money to more than cover the cost. Christina and her husband discussed how wonderful it would be if they could put the remaining $400 to use in order to help relieve others from cancer's financial burdens. Thus, the idea for an organization that would financially assist breast cancer patients began to evolve. Sadly on August 25, 2004, Christina succumbed to the disease before seeing her vision realized.

The Christina S. Walsh Breast Cancer Foundation is a not-for-profit, tax exempt 501 (c) (3) organization providing assistance to breast cancer patients and their families, throughout the United States, who are in financial need as a result of this disease. Numerous organizations raise money for breast cancer research, and while funding towards research is critical in finding a cure for the disease, the immediate needs of breast cancer patients are often overlooked. Our goal is to relieve some of the immediate burdens that are associated with a breast cancer diagnosis. We want patients and families to know that we are here to help them when they are most in need; to offer comfort and hope while at the same time providing financial assistance so they may remain focused on what is most important—their journey towards recovery.

Due to the large number of requests we fulfill, it is the policy of the Christina S. Walsh Breast Cancer Foundation to provide financial assistance on a one-time only basis.
